"Soil Science For Future" 19.10.2012

University for Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Tulln, Austria

Soil as a multifunctional, but limited resource is and will be in the focus of all activities to cope with problems like food security, climate change adaptation and mitigation, water quality and availability – to name just the most prominent ones.

Soil science is challenged in two different ways: On the one hand fundamental knowledge of several processes is still lacking. So, topics of basic science are still of great importance. On the other hand, there is an urgent demand for practical guidance. Farmers, gardeners, but also spatial planners and nonetheless politicians are requesting sustainable solutions for the use of soil.

This symposium was supposed to give an overview of soil related activities especially of young scientists and the possible contribution to solve current and future problems with respect to soil.
