Dear Presidents of the national societies of soil science
I hope this email finds you well. It has been a very special year. We have faced so many challenges and difficulties regarding the IUSS matters due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We, however, tried and experienced more to cope with and solve, all of which should help and inspire us to further develop a much better system of IUSS management and governance for the next year, I believe. I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks for your great assistance to and collaboration with the IUSS as national representatives for the last two years of my presidency which will end on December 31, 2020. Prof. Dr. Laura Bertha Reyes Sanchez will take over me, Prof. Dr. Edoardo Antonio Costantino Costantini will join as President Elect and I will be serving as Past President in the President’s Committee on January 1, 2021. I would very much appreciate your continuous and consistent support and contribution to all kinds of activities of the IUSS for the future as before.
Please allow me to take the liberty of distributing a complimentary copy of the newest publication from the IUSS “Soil Sciences Education: Global Concepts and Teaching” to you all. This was made possible by the financial support given by the Japanese Society of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition (JSSSPN) and Aichi University, Japan, who understand the necessity and importance of soil and soil sciences education at all levels in our society everywhere in the world. I would be very pleased if you could let me have the mailing address of you or somebody else, if you find him/her more suitable than yourself, to which a copy of the book is to be shipped at your early convenience. I do wish you to kindly share the info about this book with all of your colleagues in the country and stimulate and enhance soil and soil sciences education activities. Critical comments and suggestions from you and your colleagues are of course very much welcome for further improvement of the contents and methods of soil and soil science education. Thanking you in anticipation of your cooperation.
I wish you all a safe, peaceful, prosperous and happy new year. Please stay away from the virus till we see each other face to face somewhere in the near future.
With my best regards,
